The exarchate for the eastern faithful: prototype of the versatility of models of ecclesiastical organization. Applicative cases and nature of the jurisdiction

Abstract

This contribution aims to investigate the potential of the exarchate as a peculiar and versatile model of typically Eastern ecclesiastical organisation. Building on the origins of this institution, which as opposed to what its name would lead one to believe, are rather recent, its development and current use by the Apostolic See will be analysed.
