Modifying the internal structure of the congregation for the doctrine of the faith

Abstract

Twice within the space of a few weeks, the Supreme Legislator intervened regarding the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The first intervention (on 11 February 2022) was by means of the motu proprio Fidem servare, through which the organizational structure of the Congregation was modified ; the second was by promulgating the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate evangelium (19 March 2022) regarding the entire Roman Curia, of which the Dicastery forms a part. This present work comments on the first text while not avoiding a comparison with the second, highlighting innovations, confirmations, as well as some open questions that both time and praxis will allow to be answered.
