Abstract

The actual Codex Juris Canonici regulates the associations of the christian faithful, also providing for a complex system of supervision, direction and control by the competent ecclesiastical authority. Control over the government of public associations includes the power of commissioner (can. 318 § 1) and the removal of the moderator (can. 318 § 2). The application of this canon has been extended to private associations of the faithful, as emerges from the jurisprudence.
