Nature and Culture in Marriage: Reflections on the Current Crisis of Marriage

Based on the teaching of Pope Francis in the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia, the article seeks to understand what the nature of marriage is. For this, one must avoid cultural relativism and legalistic or sentimental visions that reduce or impoverish the understanding of love. In addition, the author questions how to transmit to the new generations the beauty of marriage, overcoming the obstacles present in today’s society: the culture of the immediate, the fear of commitments, a misunderstanding about the sense of freedom and some anthropological pessimism.
