This article seeks to verify if the distinctive ideal of modern codification, that of predicting a priori the legal solution of all juridical problems in general law, is present in the canonical codification. For this purpose, the author examines the provisions of the Pio Benedictine Code and the current Code regarding supplementary sources, rules of interpretation of the law, and the canons concerning the validity or invalidity of legal acts.
