Abstract

In discerning the ecclesial situation of those faithful who are divorced and civilly remarried, or who live in other extra-marital affective-sexual relationships, it has always been important to consider the objective dimension of their relations. This dimension essentially involves a relational aspect of justice in the Church. It therefore follows that the criteria that governs the administration of the sacraments to these faithful should also be one of objective justice. Thus, it is necessary to demonstrate the profoundly positive pastoral worth of this way of acting of the Church, and discover how it harmonizes with the true mercy referred to in Amoris laetitia.
