“Stewardship” (Co-Responsibility) in the Administration of the Temporal Goods of the Church

Abstract

The bishops of the United States of America proposed in 1992 the idea of “stewardship” as applicable to the Church. Although its implementation may not be imported into other countries outside of the United States, the study of this idea may open new perspectives for the academic research also in Europe. For this purpose a new “research group” CASE has been instituted for the study of stewardship in Europe. This article presents some lines of research on the idea of stewardship in the field of Canon Law and specifically of Patrimonial Canon Law.
